In line with the broad mandate entrusted to the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) in the field of protection and promotion of human rights, and the jurisdiction granted to it under the provisions of its Establishment Law, the NIHR Committee on Visiting Places of Detention and Facilities conducted an inspection visit to Dar Al-Aman for Women Experiencing Domestic Violence, affiliated with the Ministry of Labour and Social Development, to view the general conditions of residents and their observations, and ensure their enjoyment of their rights guaranteed under national legislation and international human rights standards.

During the visit, the NIHR delegation was briefed on the facilities of the shelter and listened to a briefing about the role of the shelter in securing temporary accommodation for families exposed to domestic violence, whether during the sheltering period or after its termination, and the most important procedures related to this matter.  The delegation noted the efforts made by those in charge of the shelter in providing the necessary protection and providing various types of living, social, health, psychological, recreational and legal services for the cases concerned.
